"Wiggy, you are a freakin' genius!!"

Howdy!!

This site is dedicated to my new book - "Singles and Doubles - How the Ordinary Become Extraordinary."

The program in this book is based around using multiple sets of singles and/or doubles (sets of one and/or two reps) with varied rest times. Because of the way the program has been outlined, one can actually work on and increase muscular strength AND muscular strength-endurance at the same time. This is the perfect combination for the fighter/grappler/MMAist that needs to get the most out of his training time!

This program (titled "Singles and Doubles How the Ordinary Become Extraordinary") is unlike anything I've ever seen in that it not only allows you to increase strength and strength-endurance, but is also very easily adapted to suit hypertrophy, weight loss, and very sport specific needs. Probably the best thing about this program is the fact that it has a very low fatigue factor, meaning that your body's recovery system(s) aren't too strained. This allows you to still be as close to "100%" as possible for all your skills sessions/practices!

This program is designed with the use of Sandbags in mind. As such, most of the exercises discussed are Sandbag exercises. HOWEVER, all the principles (which is the "heart" of the program) are just as applicable to barbells, DBs, KBs, kegs, and anything else. So, if you're hesitant about using a virtually exclusive Sandbag workout, you can still use the principles with whatever implements you choose and still make phenomenal gains!!

While this program is fairly unique in many ways, probably its most unique trait is the fact that it is a program rather than a routine. Too many times courses are full of what one could call cookie-cutter, one-size-fits-all routines. While this program provides example routines, the basis of the program is given as a framework. It then guides you on how to think for yourself so you can develop your own perfect program based around your needs.

WITHIN THIS BOOK YOU WILL FIND:

  • Basic terminology and definitions

  • 10 of strength training's most common myths/misconceptions (If you work for the magazine or supplement industry, you might not want to read this!)

  • How to set realistic, quantifiable and qualifyable goals so that you can continue to make progress

  • How and (more importantly) what to use in assessing your goals and progress, thus allowing you to create more "usable" routines for yourself

  • Program basics (what it is, how it works, and how to use it)

  • How using a Sandbag (while NOT necessary) can help you achieve more functional gains than other implements

  • Advanced principles including only ways to have a harder workout, but how to further adapt the program to your specific goals or needs

  • How doing a little each day can turn into a lot of progress later

  • Clear pictures and easy to understand descriptions of every exercise (including Sandbag, Calisthenic, and two DB lifts)!

  • Sandbag Construction how to make a usable, virtually leak-proof, and ADJUSTABLE (i.e. variable weight) Sandbag!

Making impressive gains on this program is almost a given.

Tim Morenz (www.mma.tv forum member "tmorenz") has been using my program for quite some time now. He emailed this to me not too long ago:

Here are a few comments I’ve received on the “Singles and Doubles” program:

Last night went really well. I started with Hanging leg raise and hypers for 3x10. I then did heavy ! power cleans 2x5, 3x3, 3x1, 1x3 with weights that were to be honest with you, astounding me. My rest during the singles was probably 5-10 sec. b/w sets. and the triple that I did at the end would have been my 1RM 3 months ago."

I LIKE what you've done . . . DO NOT get me wrong, I think it's a totally kick-ass article . . .” -- www.mma.tv Strength and Conditioning Forum moderator Ali

"The book arrived in the mail on Friday, I read it a work Saturday morning and had an adjustable sandbag Saturday night. I've used them off and on over the years, but I love the adjustable option now. I like how the book is such an easy read without alot of the six-bit words I've seen in the magazines, but don't understand. Nice job!" -- Joe Lennon

"I have to say that I am extremely happy with the book. It is well worth the price - the info in it is pure gold . . . And your idea for 'adjustable' sandbag construction is great - simple, practical and useful." -- James Boelter (read James' online review here.

"This will definitely revolutionize the way a lot of MMA'ers approach their strength training. Awesome work!" -----Wayne Fisher (aka- Bodyweight Conditioning guru SCRAPPER)

I'll say this. When the book is finished I'm buying it. The approach you have outlined seems logical to me. It also allows ample time for the rest of our training too which is so important. It's really a tailor made routine where everyone can add the lifts he or she would need . . . I can't wait to read the book.” – Tony Cecchine

"I am disabled.. I have 70% use of my legs and I use crutches. . . I had tumors in my spinal columnat age 3, so I have been disabled since then. The tumors have affected just my lower body, so i have been blessedin that I can be in submission wrestling . . . I have a big match coming up - they are starting a disabled division and i get first shot at the title . . . Thanks for the advice, Wiggy - it was a big help! You're inspiring me to use my legs. Not many people have ever brought up that to me. God bless you bro!" - Duane "Crutchmaster" Stevenson

"I highly recommend this book . . . I will probably apply his workout to kettlebells. Heck, I might even go for the sandbag. (Whole 'nother world for me, but Wiggy's convincing.)" - Tom Grow
